If you shoot Raw + JPEG, then it will happily stack the two images. More to the point, Lightroom has gone through a revolution in its Raw development capabilities. Version 2.3, although not as fast as iView, manages them at a swift enough pace to be useful. The original Lightroom would have gone on a permanent slowdown with a fraction of that number. I have 19,987 images on my Lightroom catalogue. And, crucially, Lightroom has got a lot cleverer. Computer power has increased, disk space has got cheaper. There has been an upswing in the digital camera market, with Nikon and Canon both releasing a slew of new models. Offered a much faster, more stable approach to Digital Assets Management, and it was cheaper. It had some very good points, but it was slow, cumbersome, and, when the beta finished and Adobe offered me a very good deal on the purchase price, I turned them down.
